Emergent has 64 "shape" cards that evoke many layers of meaning. The shape cards are distant cousins to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, and contain the resonances of that ancient oracle; they also stand on their own. If you wish, you can consult the included book, which offers questions, quotes, and other food for thought. These meanings are always secondary to the meaning each card has for YOU — a meaning that may change each time you use the deck. Emergent helps you hear and trust your own intuition. Emergent also features 16 "movement" cards that suggest new directions and 11 "play pattern" cards that offer different ways to use the deck. At its heart, though, Emergent can also be as simple as asking a question and drawing a card in response.
